Busy Day Guide to Blogging
Written by Kathryn Lang · Print This Article
There are days when it just seems like you are too busy to blog. Maybe things can go smooth with your plans until you look up and realize the day is almost over. Unexpected events, an over crowded schedule or just the ordinary requirements of life can make it tough to stay on track with your blog posts.
Most of the experts say that content is king when it comes to building visitors to your blog. Being consistent is one of the most important factors listed when it comes to creating great content for your blog. Visitors will come back when they know that something new will be posted. You have to find a way to balance life with writing your blog. Being too busy to blog can end up killing your website.
10 Tips for Busy Day Blogging
-
1. Carry a notepad around with you where ever you go. Any time you have a couple of minutes you can write out a couple of blog titles for your website. You might even include three or four points that you want to hit on when you write the blog.
2. Use a tape recorder. Driving and writing are NEVER a good idea. Use one of the hand held recorders to flesh out ideas for our blog.
3. Invest in voice recognition software. You can use your hand held recorder to tape your blog posts while you are commuting or waiting in traffic. All you will need to do after that is edit the post so that the flow reads as well as it first sounded.
4. Write on the weekends. Set aside a few hours to write your posts for the upcoming week. You may end up on a roll and be able to write enough for several weeks. Pre-post your articles using the scheduling feature on your blog.
5. Write one long post – a pillar article – and then break down that one article into several short posts that expand on each point in the pillar article. You can get a week’s worth of posts from one article.
6. Take advantage of short breaks. Write out an introductory paragraph for your post during the first break. Write one paragraph per point during each future break. You will have a completed article by the end of the day and you will not even have realized you were working on your writing.
7. Call a time out. There will be times when you need to just get away from it all and write. Never be afraid to take those moments every now and then.
8. Spread out the work. Big deadlines will cause heavy stress. Break your blogging projects down into smaller projects and have deadlines for each of the parts.
9. Use links and excerpts from other websites related to your niche. Some days nothing will go right but you still do not want to neglect your blog. Those are great days to reach out to other bloggers that you respect and reference their content on your site along with a link back to their sites.
10. Set a schedule and then follow that schedule. The most important way you can work blogging into your busy schedule is to plan to blog and then to actually do what you plan.
No matter how full your schedule is today there is always room for blogging. Creating solid content for your blog and website may need to be done in bits and pieces or in a completely unique fashion. But if you will schedule time to write your blog and then follow through on your plans you will end up with plenty of content to fill your site. You are never too busy to blog.

Kathryn,
The notebook tip is #1 in my book. Keeping this habit has enabled me to record more than a few post ideas which would have otherwise vanished into the land of fleeting thoughts.
Kathryn Lang says:
I tend to use my notebook to come up with ideas when sitting in waiting rooms. Headlines of all those magazines REALLY get the juices flowing!
