Turn Your Audio Transcription into a Workbook

December 2, 2009

workbookIf you’ve ever seen audio transcribed and added to an information product,  you know while it can be an informative document, it can be a bit dry. It doesn’t always make it  easy for your customers to take that information and put it into action.

One way you can add more usefulness to your transcript and convert it into a highly-usable workbook.

Not sure how to do that? Here are some tips…

1.    Transcribe the audio. It’s easier to work from print than from an audio recording. Plus, you’ll add more value to your information product by providing the full transcript as well.

2.    Break down the transcription into sections…much like you’d have chapters in an ebook or report.

3.    For each section, think of the main learning points. From there you can have your customers answer questions, do brainstorming and complete exercises on those main points.

For example, if you’re teaching your readers how to save money on their banking/credit fees, you can create a useful workbook by including:

•    A checklist for researching local bank fees.
•    Calculations on how much your customers are really spending.

Or if you’ve held a teleseminar on creating a membership site, put together a workbook with:

•    A checklist of membership software features.
•    A step-by-step planning guide to set up the site.

You get the point. Just taking the time to make your product more USEFUL and PRACTICAL to your readers can go a long way. It goes a long to increase your customer satisfaction and increase the price you ask for your product…and your customers will happily pay.

Heads Up – Press Release Profits
Is About to Be PLR

November 23, 2009

opportunityAs you may know, I recently retired some of my Internet marketing products. As I retired them, a few people asked if I would be offering resale rights to the products.

Well, after some thought, I think I’m going to be even better than just simple resell rights.

How about private label rights (PLR)? With PLR, that means you can edit, add your  affiliate links and brand proven ready-made products…making them a snap to sell.

First up is one of my original courses (which has gone through a number of updates over the last 5 years) and that’s Press Release Profits.

The PLR version will be a robust marketing and product package (think  graphics, audio, graphics with .PSD files, sale copy and more) that you’ll want to snatch up if you’re in the business-to-business market at all.

There is one catch – and that’s the reason for this heads up email. The package will be SERIOUSLY limited in circulation.

As fair warning, this package goes on sale this coming Wednesday…so be on the lookout for another notice.

Increase the Value of Your Information Products

October 4, 2009

Woman making online purchase at homeWhether you’re looking to command a higher price, increase your conversions, or ensure better customer satisfaction, there are a number of ways you can increase the value of your information products. And the good news many are fairly simple and inexpensive to implement.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Provide your information in a variety of formats. For example: written, audio, video, and transcription. This not only increases the bulk of your product, but allows you to reach prospects who have different learning styles (those who like reading/watching/listening) or who may have accessibility issues.

2. Create e-covers for your product. This is more for perceived value than real value, but definitely adds to the professional appearance of your product.

Tips:

If you offer audio, video, and/or written formats, make sure your product graphic shows the different components.

If you have more than one volume (ex multiple PDF documents, multiple audio recordings) show those in your product graphic as well.

Create covers  to use in your PDF documents, giving your reports/ebooks and other documents a professional look.

3. Create a download area for your product, instead of giving customers a simple zip folder to download. This allows you to give additional instructions and guidance to your customers, list relevant resources and it’s an opportunity to make some back end sales.

4. Make it a membership instead. Following along with the download area idea, you might create a password protected membership area where you post regularly or periodic updates and other goodies.

INCOME TIP: If you’re able to update your member’s area on a regular basis, consider charging a monthly fee. Your members receive ongoing value and you receive recurring income.

5. Add useful tools to your product. For example:

  • worksheets
  • workbooks
  • spreadsheets
  • checklists
  • software
  • planners

Think of what tools would make it easier for your customer to use your product and include it.

6. Go physical: Mail CD’s, books, and DVD’s to your customers for that extra thud factor. When your customer first orders, provide them with some items through instant download (for purposes of instant gratification) and then send the larger package via post.

The great thing about information products is that what you sell today can easily be changed tomorrow, making it easy to increase your product’s value (and price!) over time.
