Create Content Worth Sharing
Written by Kathryn Lang
The more people that are eager, willing and able to share the information you post on your website or that you create to offer to your visitors, the more people will begin to discover both you and your website. It is a circle that you want to keep moving around.
Creating the amazing content that makes your reader say, “I have to send this to my friends,” can be an overwhelming task. Think smaller about who you are trying to impact when you create the content, and you may be surprised that the resulting content has the same result as it would if you had targeted the world.
Create Content YOU Want to Share
1. Write something you have wanted to share with a friend, or maybe you can expand that last chat conversation into a full blown article. A recent discussion about the unemployment extension led to an article about the potholes of unemployment. It was more than an article that would be posted on a website. The material was something that I wanted to share with friends and family because I found the information valuable.
2. Write something that ignites your passion. Passionate posts can be dangerous weapons, so tread lightly. The more passionate you are about a subject, the more likely you should walk away from the content for a day or two before posting. Look at the material with a calm mind before sending the content out into the world. My heart for some subjects can often run right over my sensibilities if I move on the content without a break.
3. Write about something that you have wanted to learn. Creating content that focuses on new information forces you to learn more, which can lead to even more writing opportunities. An interest in counseling topics led to a job writing about addiction and recovery that led to a class to get certified in counseling for addiction and recovery.
The new and exciting are the things that we most want to share with others. I am quick to call a friend to tell about a new opportunity or job. I am much less likely to call and tell about the weekly laundry.
Focusing content on the information that I want to share with others will produce content that others want to share. Creating content that will spin around the internet and bring in new visitors to your website starts with the simple step of creating content you want to share with YOUR friends.
