What a Single Article Can do for You
Written by Alice and Annette

Many clients who come to us to write for them, come with just one purpose in mind for their article. They plan to publish it on their blog or send it to their mailing list, but the fact is, one single article can serve a variety of functions to help you increase your exposure and grow your business. When you write a piece of content or have it written for you, it’s worth taking the time to have a plan to use it in as many advantageous ways as possible.
Here are just 5 ways how to distribute an article online…and hopefully, they will inspire even more ideas. An article can and should be used over and over again.
1. The Most Obvious…Post it to Your Blog or Website
Chances are good that your blog or website is the cornerstone of your online sales and marketing strategy. But if your site never changes, are you really doing everything you can to maximize the reach your business has on the Internet? After all, why would visitors keep coming back to your site if there’s never anything new for them to see or read? And a steady flow of high quality content is a great way to form a relationship with your visitors and keep them returning to your site again and again.
2. Repurpose the Article into an Information Product
A well-written article isn’t just a “use it once” kind of thing. In fact, quality content can be repurposed multiple times into other informational products that you can use to expand the reach of your marketing efforts. A single article can be combined with other content from your site to create downloadable reports, ebooks, workbooks or any other form of content that relates to your line of business and which your prospects would find helpful.
3. Ask Your Affiliates to Publish It
Are you maximizing the value of your affiliate network? Many people mistakenly believe that they can only use their affiliates to drive traffic to a page where someone can buy something. Broaden the reach of your business by asking your affiliates publish your articles and allow them to add their affiliate links.
4. Print and Distribute It
Even if you don’t have a storefront or physical location, that doesn’t mean that your marketing and promotional efforts need to be 100% online. There are lots of ways you can leverage your existing content in the “real” world. Turn your article into a flyer that you can distribute at local events. Reformat your article for submission to your local newspaper. If the topic is right, you might also consider using one of your articles for a direct mail campaign.
5. Use it as Part of an Autoresponder Series
Finally, another particularly effective way you can repurpose an article is to turn it into part of an autoresponder that you can use to promote your business. It’s important to engage new prospects so that they become regular visitors to your website – and eventually become customers. A quality autoresponder series based on your current content can be a great way to do this.
Just a few ideas to get you going and answer that question of how to distribute an article online. Next week, let’s talk about taking your articles and turning them into content in a variety of formats. While most content starts with the written word, there’s no reason it has to stay in text format only.
