Goals Help Content

Written by Kathryn Lang

Writing comes from the heart but must be directed by the mind. The use of goals creates a map that will lay out the path to passion and purpose when it comes to a creating content for your website. It helps to know where you are going so that you can recognize when you get there (and when you get off track).

Setting Goals for Writing

    • Who do you envision will be reading your content? Making a list of the people that you want to visit or expect to visit will help direct your content.

    • What outcomes do you want to achieve through your content? Knowing what points you want to present to visitors will give you the words to craft great content.

    • What picture do you get when you see your website in five years? Understanding your own desires for what you will create provides the guidance to begin creating.

    • What steps are you willing to take to make your goals for the website a reality? Unlocking success starts with actions. Commit to the things that will allow you to elevate your content to the level that you desire.

Writing out the goals for your website and content only begins the process. The final step that calls for action eliminates the possibility that goals will just be tucked away and forgotten. Finding success for content requires follow through.

Creating Follow thru for Writing

    1. Get accountability by joining forums and groups that will keep you motivated to complete your goals.

    2. Keep the goals in sight. Leave them in a place where you view them on a daily basis so that they are always in your thoughts.

    3. Make a habit out of the actions that will reach your goals. Write content every day at a specific time. Continue doing that for 42 days and you have a new habit for your life.

    4. Map out the goals on a calendar. Write down the day that you want to accomplish each goal and then work backwards to create a schedule for the tasks that will make the goals a reality.

    5. Set up a rewards plan for each goal so that you can celebrate each accomplishment and advancement for your content.

Getting to the right destination works better when you follow a map. Setting goals for your content and website creates that map. Planning does not begin the journey, for the journey to begin the first step must be taken.

Putting actions to each goal will move you toward the destination you desire to reach with your content and with your website. Following through on those goals and actions will give you the final tools necessary for creating success with your content.

What are you going to do right now to set goals for your website and content?

What actions will you take to make your goals a reality?

One Response to “Goals Help Content”

  1. Good post – I especially like the point to “make a habit out of the actions that will reach your goals”. It is all too easy to get started but not take small action on a regular basis to achieve our goals.
