Google Has Their Caffeine,
Do You Have Yours?

Written by Annette Elton

caffeineLast week Google released their long anticipated Caffeine. I don’t profess to be an expert on search engine algorithms but I do know there are some real benefits and challenges to this new system.

And if you’re an online marketer, it’s even more important now to publish new content on your website regularly.

That either means spending more time writing, or learning how to write a bit faster. Because you probably don’t have a whole lot of time to spare, here are a few tips that work for me to write more content in less time.

5 Easy Ways to Give Your Writing a Caffeine Boost

•   Give yourself a time limit. Set the timer and start typing.  If you perform well under pressure, the timer will motivate you to focus 100% on writing your content. Distractions are eliminated.

•    Don’t edit while you write (edit later)

•    Plan ahead. Know exactly what you’re writing about. If you sit down at your keyboard without an idea of what you’re writing on, you’ll spend twice as long creating the content.  Have separate content brainstorming and planning sessions. Then sit down to write.

•   Answer questions. One really fast way to write content is to write the headline and subheadings as questions and then answer them in the body of the piece.  For example, if I were writing an article about Google Caffeine one section may be “What is Google Caffeine” then I could proceed to answer it.

•    Use time pockets. Time pockets are those little bits of potentially wasted time while you’re sitting in the waiting room at the doc, mechanic or waiting for your kid after practice. Ten minutes here, twenty minutes there – it adds up. Bring your notebook or recording device with you when you head out the door and write during these time pockets.

Google is always changing the way they do things, it’s part of their charm.  In addition to embracing a few techniques to give your writing practice a caffeine boost – you can supplement with PLR or hire a ghostwriter.  So sit back, relax, enjoy your coffee.  You’ve got this content thing under control!

  1. Ugh editing while I write that is my biggest weakness! Must learn to undo that bad, bad habit. Thanks Annette
