Increase the Value of Your Information Products

Whether you’re looking to command a higher price, increase your conversions, or ensure better customer satisfaction, there are a number of ways you can increase the value of your information products. And the good news many are fairly simple and inexpensive to implement.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Provide your information in a variety of formats. For example: written, audio, video, and transcription. This not only increases the bulk of your product, but allows you to reach prospects who have different learning styles (those who like reading/watching/listening) or who may have accessibility issues.
2. Create e-covers for your product. This is more for perceived value than real value, but definitely adds to the professional appearance of your product.
Tips:
If you offer audio, video, and/or written formats, make sure your product graphic shows the different components.
If you have more than one volume (ex multiple PDF documents, multiple audio recordings) show those in your product graphic as well.
Create covers to use in your PDF documents, giving your reports/ebooks and other documents a professional look.
3. Create a download area for your product, instead of giving customers a simple zip folder to download. This allows you to give additional instructions and guidance to your customers, list relevant resources and it’s an opportunity to make some back end sales.
4. Make it a membership instead. Following along with the download area idea, you might create a password protected membership area where you post regularly or periodic updates and other goodies.
INCOME TIP: If you’re able to update your member’s area on a regular basis, consider charging a monthly fee. Your members receive ongoing value and you receive recurring income.
5. Add useful tools to your product. For example:
- worksheets
- workbooks
- spreadsheets
- checklists
- software
- planners
Think of what tools would make it easier for your customer to use your product and include it.
6. Go physical: Mail CD’s, books, and DVD’s to your customers for that extra thud factor. When your customer first orders, provide them with some items through instant download (for purposes of instant gratification) and then send the larger package via post.
The great thing about information products is that what you sell today can easily be changed tomorrow, making it easy to increase your product’s value (and price!) over time.
