Read to Grow Content Writing

Written by Kathryn Lang

Reading fundamentally drives my content. The things that I put into my head are the things that eventually come out. Creating great content comes from the ideas that I feed my mind during the day. Being aware of what I am reading and making a point to devour those publications, books and blogs that relate to my own website niche will help me develop better content for my own site.

Items that relate to writing in general can boost my own content. The wisdom, tips and even ideas can spur on the words that I write. The snowball effect begins to happen when the article I read give life to an article I write that then gives birth to a series of articles, and eBook and so on.

Most writers concentrate on writing, but reading has an amazing effect on the writing spirit.

Reading to Write Better Content

    1. Reading magazines can give me an understanding of what readers are looking for in their materials. I can use the ideas in the magazines to great content for my own site but with a spin that is specific for my niche or my visitors.

    2. Reading outside of a niche can challenge me to write beyond my current limits. The ideas that I discover while I read can be molded into articles for my website. After I have completed that article I can then write an article about the journey from idea to content that I can offer as a guest post on another site (and link back to my own site).

    3. Reading books by those involved in my niche, experts in the industry or just writers in general give me insight that will never be gained any other way. Each of us has a unique tale to tell and I can use that experience to help plot my own journey and create better content along the way

    4. Reading other websites that are motivational in nature or that are connected to my own niche gives me encouragement to do more for my website. The content on these sites gives birth to my own content and then I am able to link back to the other website to acknowledge that writing and that author.

    5. Reading can help to expose the flaws in my own writing. It is when we stop learning that we die – and that goes for writing. Learning more about writing will continue to grow and expand the content that I produce.

The things that I read right are some of the building blocks to help me become a stronger and more consistent writer. My journey may be a different journey than you are on, but the things that go into the mind will affect every journey at some point.
