Going a bit deeper on using interviews as content, let’s talk about the tools you can use to get your interviews done in digital format. Technology has come so far in the past decade that you don’t need any specialized tools. In fact, you probably already have access to what you need.
By the way, if you missed last week’s introduction to interviews, you can check that out here – lots of ideas for there.
Now when it comes to tools to get your interviews done, here are a few options for you.
1. Skype – Skype allows you to accomplish a number of interviewing goals. You can record either a voice conversation or a video conversation. With Skype Premium you can also use their group video feature. While Skype doesn’t provide call or video recording services, there are several easy online solutions.
For example, Evaer is a program that allows you to record both audio and video via Skype.
2. Your Smartphone – You can also interview your expert on the telephone. Some systems like Google Voice offer a call recording feature. You can then have the recording transcribed. Many phones also have a voice memo feature which can be used to record face to face interviews.
3. Online Seminar and Meeting Services – Services like GoToMeeting may be the ideal choice if you plan on conducting interviews on a monthly basis. It’s accessible via smart phone applications and from your computer. You can record your sessions. It’s also useful if you interview several people in a group setting.
4. Email – Some interviewees prefer to write their answers rather than have a recorded discussion. This is easily managed with a basic email conversation. Or you can use a document sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive to deliver the interview questions to them and to receive their response.
Creating interviews is so easy and the technology is already out there waiting for you, so tap into the expertise of others to create easy content.
