Actually, one of my biggest pet peeves is the use of the word “correct” when it comes to anything related to marketing YOUR business…there is no CORRECT.

Thankfully, there is someone who stands out amongst the noise and that’s Kelly McCausey. She’s the great motivator of online business owners and helps them create the businesses THEY want, rather than the businesses she thinks they should have. She tells it like it is, but tactfully guides entrepreneurs into making the right decisions for themselves. I’ve known Kelly for 10 years now and she never ceases to amaze me with her amazing energy and ability.

That’s why I was pretty excited when my copy of her Solopreneurs are Smarter in the mail today. I even contributed a chapter to the book, but the work really shows what Kelly is all about.

Here are 3 of my favorite quotes from the book…

The absolute favorite reason I love being a Solopreneur is this: I set my own schedule.

I sleep in, take naps and even work late at night.

The clock doesn’t rule my day; in fact, I rarely set an alarm.

My business exists to serve my life, not the other way around.

We solopreneurs actually have advantages over these giant companies.

We’re light on our feet. We’re in the midst of our market. We can see things big companies can’t and we can take action faster.

There’s no magic dollar figure that reflects success.

There’s no perfect minimal work schedule that shouts freedom.

A smart Solopreneur isn’t driven by someone’s arbitrary benchmark, they plot their own path and choose their own goals.

    Alice, I loved Kelly’s book. One of the things that I resonated with most is that as a Solopreneur I tend not to take advantage of the time freedom I have. I love how Kelly talks about taking naps, working odd hours and going to lunch, etc. It reminded me than I am missing out on one of the most important benefit of being a Solopreneur. I’m now stopping to smell the roses!

      I totally agree. I actually think I’ve been pretty good at taking advantage of the freedom until this year for some reason. I needed to give myself a little slap and get back on track to doing what I’d like. ;-)

    Great quotes, Alice. I especially like that last one. When I first got stared online, I thought that success was reaching that guru income mark of $30k or $50k/mth that I see so many of them talking about, so for a while I’d classified myself and my business as a failure.

    However, not too long ago I began to realize that I actually define what is successful for me, no one else does. And in realizing that, I began to blossom and a lot more opportunities have been opened up to me.
