Why Am I Here?

Written by Kathryn Lang

Filling a website with content that drives visitors may be your ultimate goal but knowing what content to use can give you the right visitors for building your website or business.

Several weeks ago, Alice shared some purposes that content might serve. Now it is time to understand the why of the website, business or content. Answer these questions to help you develop a vision that will push you forward and give you the content you need to share that vision with others.

Determining the Purpose

    1. Who is your market? Angela covered this question in depth yesterday. Knowing who you are trying to reach will help you understand your reason for producing particular content.

    2. What are your hopes, dreams and goals? Make a list of the things that you desire to have through this website or business. Dream big and let your mid run free. You can trim up the ideas later on.

    3. What do you enjoy doing? These are the things that give you joy and excitement. There are things that make you smile and spread a glow over you. If you have no idea what it is that makes your heart flutter then ask the people that are closest to you what they think.

    4. What do you know (or can you do) that others don’t? These are things like having the ability to write new lyrics to any song tune, or a love for yard work or a gift for organization. Those things that might seem ordinary and expected in your life may be the exact thing that others are seeking to discover.

    5. What do others say you are good at doing? Ask your friends and family what they see in you that maybe you don’t see. Looking at your gifts and talents through the eyes of others may give you avenues to explore that you might never have otherwise discovered.

Review your lists and begin to use the answers to hone in on a vision for your website and your content. There is a unique quality that you have to offer your target market. Begin to develop your content around these areas. You will find that not only does your content come easier but your visitors will enjoy the content more.

Great content does more than fill spaces on pages. It gives your readers insight into your vision and provides them with information in your unique voice. The only way that you can ever reveal that vision is by uncovering that vision for yourself.

Use these questions and the other tools that are provided to help develop a successful website that offers content that draws visitors back and gives them the motivation to share with others.

One Response to “Why Am I Here?”

  1. This kind of goes along with what we were talking about at Mom Mastermind’s Breakthrough session last Monday. Finding your passion and using that passion to reach your market. Thanks for this information. It really helps since I just revamped my VA business.
